Peer Physics and/or Chemistry Tutor - Institutional Student Worker (Spring 2020)
Gainesville

The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Peer Physics and/or Chemistry Tutor. This position will tutor students in Phys1111, Phys1112, Phys2211, Phys2212, and/or Chem1151, Chem1152, Chem1211, Chem1212.  (Please indicate what course(s) you're able to tutor in your resume) and assist students, faculty, and staff with all services provided by UNG tutoring centers. 

The Peer Tutor will:

  • Tutor students in general Physics and/or general Chemistry.
  • Demonstrate the use of calculators, both graphing and non-graphing, and IP.
  • Attend classes to further knowledge in tutored subject
  • Assist in the general operation of the tutoring center. 
  • Competency of subject matter with the ability to break down and explain component parts in a concise but clear manner.
  • Must be friendly and personable; empathetic towards fellow students.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from students, faculty, staff, and the general public.
  • Must have experience with Microsoft software, IP, and graphing calculators. 
  • Must be enrolled at the University of North Georgia in a minimum of six (6) credit hours to qualify as a student worker
  • Minimum of 3.3 overall GPA.
  • Physics tutor must have completed Physics 2111 or Physics 1111 with a grade of A.
  • Chemistry tutor must have completed Chemistry 1211 with a grade of A.  Completion of Chem 1212 with a grade of A is preferred.
