Peer Tutor - Institutional Student Worker (Spring 2019)

The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Peer Tutor. Peer Tutor can be responsible for tutoring multiple subjects.

For the Spring 2019 Semester, Peer Tutors needed for the following courses/subjects: 

  • Mathematics, especially Statistics, College Algebra, and Brief Calculus
  • Chemistry, especially 1151/52; 1211 and 1212; Organic
  • Business, especially Accounting 2101/02; Brief Calculus; Management; Finance; Economics
  • English, especially Intermediate and Advanced Grammar;
  • Biology, especially AP I, II; 1107K, 1108K; Social Sciences, especially US History and Global Issues

The Peer Tutor will:

  • Be responsible for replying in a timely manner to requests from students seeking help in classes/subjects. 
  • Be responsible for documenting each tutoring session and reporting hours via USG Connect. 
  • Be responsible for completing 10 hours of (paid) tutor training via D2L NLT midterms. 
  • Work with students either individually or in small groups, explaining concepts of certain subjects or courses; helping students decipher and organize notes and information from lectures and textbooks; and/or preparing for test taking. 
  • Knowledge and proficiency in subject area
  • Must be enrolled at the University of North Georgia in a minimum of six (6) credit hours to qualify as a student worker
  • Experience in tutoring is preferred, but not required. 
  • Proficiency and a minimum grade of B in certain subject areas. 
  • Native speakers of languages are accepted as well for language tutoring.
  • 3.35 minimum GPA required.
